About Bill Monroe, the Chief Collaboration Officer

Bill Monroe has 25 years of experience with software and software-related projects as a computer programmer, a project manager, a project management process consultant, and a software quality consultant.  A believer in lifelong learning, Bill holds 10 professional certifications from many of the world’s leading operations, supply-chain, project management, and quality management societies, and he is constantly looking for new opportunities to broaden and deepen his understanding of the Business/IT relationship and how to improve success with software, software-related projects and project management.

Bill writes and speaks on topics related to Project Management, Software Quality, and the Business/IT relationship.  

In 2007 Bill founded Chief Collaboration Officer, LLC in order to help companies improve their results with enterprise software and software-related projects utilizing concepts and tools that he has created based on his experience and involvement with Business and IT.  His writing, teaching, and leadership as culminated in Project Portfolio Excellence, a new model for project portfolio management based on effective collaboration between senior managers, business professionals, and technology professionals.

With Project Portfolio Excellence, Bill is starting a movement to raise awareness of the ways in which billions of dollars are wasted each year due to poor collaboration between Business and IT, and he’s providing the tools, the guidance, and the vision to change the current paradigm into one in which companies will achieve greater success with their enterprise software and software-related project endeavors.

Bill and his family live in the Bluegrass area of Kentucky on 88 acres of woods and meadows.  He and his wife, Angelica, homeschool their two children and are active within the homeschooling community, Bill having formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Home Education Association, and Angelica as a leader in two local homeschooling support groups.
